Today, Tuesday, the US Army Central Command published the first pictures of the naval pier, which it began building off the coast of Gaza.
The US Army Central Command said in a post on its “X” account: “The naval pier will support efforts aimed at delivering aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip.”
The Pentagon said yesterday, Monday, that the cost of building the naval pier will not be less than $320 million, noting that the cost is an approximate estimate of the project and includes transporting equipment and sections of the pier from the United States to the Gaza coast, in addition to construction operations and the delivery of aid.
Under the US Army’s plan, the aid will be loaded onto commercial ships in Cyprus to be transported to the floating dock, and the pallets will be loaded onto trucks, which in turn will be carried on smaller ships heading to a two-lane floating metal bridge.
