The US asks CABEI not to grant loans to Nicaragua

by time news

The United States Senate and House of Representatives sent a letter to four Central American countries so that they can request the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) not to grant more loans to the Nicaraguan government.

According to the letter, signed by said representatives, the objective is that “the governments that have a voice and votes in the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) increase the transparency and scrutiny of bank loans to Nicaragua.”

And these should not be carried out due to “the crimes perpetrated by the Ortega-Murillo regime against humanity.” Finally, the congressmen urged their country to “take advantage of his leadership as a founding member of CABEI to guarantee that bank loans do not perpetuate the consolidation of the Nicaraguan dictatorship.”

This letter is the product of an investigation carried out by the United Nations, in which it revealed the crimes perpetrated by the regime against the Nicaraguan population.
