Mexican authorities could influence the US presidential elections in November 2024 by taking control of the flow of migrants to the States from South American countries.

The increase in the number of illegal migrants arriving in the United States through the US-Mexico border has become a pressing problem and a cause of dissatisfaction among US citizens.
At the end of 2023, American President Joe Biden asked his Mexican counterpart Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador for help. He sent an official delegation whose task was to convince the authorities of the neighboring country to tighten their migration policy.
Biden’s staff acknowledged that Obrador has become a valuable partner for the American leader, although they called the Mexican president unpredictable.
“President Lopez Obrador has been a critical partner to President Biden.”says US Homeland Security Advisor Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall.
The Obrador administration has been accommodating, strengthening controls at the common border, which has helped reduce the number of illegal migrants entering the United States, but has put forward counter demands. He made a statement that the state cannot cope with the influx of migrants from Latin American countries. Obrador demanded funding from the United States to solve the problems that force refugees to leave in search of a better life.
