The US Embassy announced a new visa application platform starting in September 2024

On August 19th, the Embassy of the United States in Guatemala reported that as of September 23, 2024 will implement a New visa application platform. By having a new service provider there will be a new payment system, interview scheduling, and also new document delivery and pick-up locations. It is important to note that all interview appointments already scheduled will remain valid and current.

To facilitate the transition to the new system, the embassy has requested that all persons update their contact information in their ustraveldocs.com profile. This will allow them to receive notifications about the change. In addition, several important dates have been provided that applicants should be aware of:

  • August 30, 2024: Last day to pay for your visa application in cash at the bank.
  • September 12, 2024: Last day to access your account at ustraveldocs.com to make online payments, schedule appointments, and communicate with the customer service center.
  • September 16, 2024: Last day to drop off documents at Premium Delivery locations.
  • September 18, 2024: Last day to leave documents at the usual courier locations for delivery to the Embassy.
  • September 23, 2024: Activation of the New website for visa appointmentswith new document delivery and collection locations.

Information for scheduled appointments

Depending on the date of your appointment, you will need to follow some important instructions provided by the Embassy:

  • Interviews scheduled for September 12 or before: No further action is required. You will still be able to access your account at ustraveldocs.com to review your appointment details and contact the support center if necessary.
  • Appointments scheduled between September 13 and 20, 2024: It is important that you print your interview confirmation before September 12. After that date, you will no longer be able to access your account on ustraveldocs.com, which will prevent you from canceling or rescheduling appointments and from contacting the service center. If you do not attend on your scheduled date, you will need to contact the new help center after September 23 for instructions on how to reschedule your appointment.
  • Interviews scheduled for September 23 or later: There is no immediate action required. However, it is recommended that you print your appointment confirmation before September 12, as you will not be able to access the ustraveldocs.com platform after that date. Starting September 23, you will be able to log into the new platform via the website to create a user account and contact the support center.

Payments and scheduling of pending interviews

If you have already paid for your visa application but have not yet scheduled an appointment, you must do so before the migration to the new system. If you have not made the payment and need an emergency appointment, for a student, temporary work or other type of visa with a valid petition in September, it is recommended that you make the payment as soon as possible and schedule your interview as soon as possible.

For those planning to travel after September 23 and have not yet paid for visa processing, the embassy suggests waiting for the new system to be enabled before starting the process.
