The Embassy of the United States of America (USA) postponed the meeting with the graduates of the universities of this country, which was planned to be held on November 27 at the “Marriott Absheron” hotel in Baku.

This happened after the dissemination of information containing a number of claims about this meeting on the BakuTV and Qafqazinfo websites. In those claims, the event was presented as a “meeting with the US agency in Baku”.

Prior to this, a certain coldness was observed in the relations between the United States and Azerbaijan regarding the Karabakh issue. After that, anti-US articles and plots were prepared in mass media close to the government.

Commenting on the latest accusation and the meeting, the US Embassy responded to Turan’s inquiry as follows: “The Embassy looked forward to celebrating the anniversaries of our two flagship educational and cultural exchange programs, as well as highlighting the achievements of the Azerbaijani community of US-educated graduates and their contributions to their communities. These anniversaries made the embassy’s annual alumni event even more special this year. More than 400 guests from various walks of life, including government, education, non-profit and private sectors, were expected to attend the event. We look forward to rescheduling soon”.

In recent years, the number of Azerbaijani citizens studying in the United States has been increasing.

In the 2022-2023 academic year, 901 young people from Azerbaijan are studying in the United States. According to the US Embassy, this is 23.8 percent more than the previous year.

Many of those who studied and are studying in the United States went there with the support of the Azerbaijani government.
