The United States is the main sponsor of terrorism, both in the Middle East and around the world, and has no right to blame other UN members for this.
As reported by Day.Az with reference to TASS, this is stated in a letter sent by the Permanent Mission of Iran to the UN to the Security Council in response to Washington’s accusations against Tehran of allegedly supporting terrorists.
As indicated in the document provided to TASS by the Iranian mission, the US representative during the UN Security Council meeting on the Middle East last week “deviated from the agenda item and made an unfounded and misleading reference to the Islamic Republic of Iran, falsely accusing Iran of supporting terrorism in the region.” “The Islamic Republic of Iran categorically rejects and strongly condemns this unfounded allegation, as well as the irresponsible behavior of the US representative. It is absolutely clear that the US, not Iran, is the main supporter and propagandist of terrorism both in the region and around the world,” the letter notes. “It is ironic and shameful that the US accuses Iran while, as a loyal ally of Israel, it continues to defend acts of genocide [со стороны израильских властей]and provide Israel with endless supplies of weapons to terrorize and massacre the innocent people of Palestine.”
Iran’s Permanent Mission to the UN also pointed out that “the recent massacre committed by Israel against displaced civilians at the Al-Tabieen school in central Gaza on August 10, 2024, which resulted in the death of at least 100 innocent Palestinians, including children and women, is a consequence of the unwavering support [Израиля] from the US side.”
In addition, the Iranian diplomatic mission noted that “US support for groups recognized by the UN as terrorist, such as Jabhat al-Nusra and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (banned in Russia – TASS) in the occupied areas of the Syrian Arab Republic” in violation of the UN Charter “is further evidence that the United States is the main sponsor of terrorism in the region.” “Given such a dismal track record, the United States has no right to blame or lecture other members of the United Nations,” the Iranian diplomats concluded.
