The United States Treasury Department has imposed sanctions against five entities from Hungary, Greece, Ireland, North Macedonia, as well as two citizens of Israel and Poland for using spyware against Americans.

As Day.Az reports, this is stated in a written statement from the financial department.

As noted in the document, the individuals on the list “are associated with the Intellexa Consortium and were involved in the development, use and distribution of commercial spyware used to attack Americans, including government officials, journalists and US political experts.”

“The proliferation of commercial spyware poses a serious and growing threat to the security of the United States and is being used by foreign actors to violate human rights and target dissidents around the world for reprisals and reprisals,” the Treasury added.
