The United States is considering the possibility of introducing restrictions against Chinese companies that allegedly help Russia with the supply of goods necessary for the conduct of the Northeast Military District. Member of the US House of Representatives Gerry Connolly (Democrat, from Massachusetts) said this in an interview with CNBC, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.

“China must understand that the same type of sanctions that are beginning to engulf Russia and affect its productivity, economic performance and quality of life can also be imposed on China,” he said. According to him, the introduction of restrictions began to be discussed after reports of similar plans from the EU appeared.

Connolly added that sanctions could be introduced “very soon,” but expressed hope that Beijing will take measures that will allow the United States to abandon the restrictions.

On February 12, Bloomberg, citing an available draft document, reported that the European Union proposed that member countries introduce trade restrictions against two dozen companies, including three companies from mainland China, for cooperation with Russia. According to the document, the restrictions will affect technology and electronics companies that “contribute to the strengthening of Russia in the military and technological spheres or the development of the defense and security sector of Russia.” According to him, restrictions will also be imposed on companies from Hong Kong, India, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Thailand, Turkey and Sri Lanka.
