US Senators approved a budget agreement, averting a partial paralysis of the federal government that would have led to the closure of many agencies and departments in the United States.

The Democratic and Republican parties approved the $467.5 billion package, although a number of Republicans did not approve of some of the expenditures.

The Republican-led US House of Representatives had previously approved this agreement on Wednesday, which aims to avoid a partial government shutdown.

With this green light, funding will be available for the departments of Agriculture, Justice, Interior, Transportation, Housing, Veterans Affairs, Commerce, and Energy. Without this last-minute agreement, these departments could have been paralyzed, what the United States calls a “shutdown.”
