The US still believes that peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia is possible.
As Day.Az reports, First Deputy Press Secretary of the US State Department Vedant Patel said this during a briefing.
“We continue to believe that peace is possible. This is something that the Secretary of State and others continue to actively pursue. I do not have any information about the progress of negotiations between the parties. But we will continue to support this process,” he said.
It should be noted that on May 10-11, 2024, negotiations took place in the Kazakh city of Almaty between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan.
The ministers welcomed the progress in border delimitation and the agreements reached in this regard. The ministers and the delegations they led continued discussing the provisions of the draft “Bilateral Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.” The parties agreed to continue negotiations on issues on which there are still disagreements.
