In mid-July, Prime Minister Marcel Čolak set himself the goal of reducing visa refusals to below 3%

The authorities in the United States will announce on October 15 a decision to abolish visas for Romanian citizens, which will take effect next year. This is claimed by the Romanian TV station Gigi 24, citing government sources.

The TV station reminds that the Romanian government recently launched the “Let’s Qualify Romania” campaign, which aims to help include Romania in the US visa-free travel program for up to 90 days “Visa Waiver”.

In launching the campaign on July 18, Prime Minister Marcel Călăcu called on Romanians who hold any type of valid US visa or have had a visa that expired no more than four years ago to apply for a B1 or B2 visa renewal in order to to reduce the percentage of refused visas for the USA – a condition for including the country in the “Visa Waiver” program, reminds BTA.

“There is a huge opportunity, valid only until September 30. That is why I am appealing to all Romanian citizens who have valid B1 or B2 visas and to those who have had such a visa to submit an application for visa renewal. This is how we will achieve a percent of the refusals of a maximum of 3 percent, and I am convinced that by mobilizing as many Romanians as possible in this campaign, next year we will travel to the USA without visas,” Çolaku said at the time.
