On October 4, ADA University hosted V International Forum “New Challenges in Education”.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Trend, the International Forum was held in a hybrid format in partnership with the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, the World Education Forum and the Education Development Fund, with the organizational support of the experimental communication platform for educators “T-Network” and ADA University, with media support from the newspaper “Azərbaycan müəllimi”, “Təhsil TV” and the magazine “Azərbaycan məktəbi”.

The main goal was to discuss new challenges in education, increase attention to environmental education, especially to the idea of ​​“green education,” and achieve further improvement in quality by considering the educational requirements of new times.

The international forum, dedicated to the “Year of Solidarity for a Greener World” and containing the idea of ​​COP29, is held under the motto “A better educated future”.

The main speakers were the Director of the World Education Forum, Dominique Savage, and the Head of the Department of Education and Skills of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Andreas Schleicher.

Dominique Savage gave an extensive presentation on “What initiatives can schools implement to effectively develop green skills?”, and Andreas Schleicher on “Education towards sustainable development”.

Also, the coordinator of eco-schools in Estonia, Maris Magi, presented a presentation on the topic “How to educate environmentally conscious students? Lessons from Eco-schools”, the vice-rector of ADA University Vafa Kazdal on the topic “Ecosystem of participation and cooperation in education”, a famous scientist in the field of pedagogy, education researcher scientist Ozgur Bolat on the topic “How does nature influence children’s achievements and happiness?”

The forum covers the topics of environmental literacy and culture of behavior, green challenges and commitment to education, green skills strategy: the future of education and environmental innovation, leadership and environmental efficiency in education, green learning environments and teacher training, ecosystem of participation and collaboration in education.

Within the framework of the International Forum, moderated by the head of the T-Network platform, doctoral student in educational management Jafar Mansimi, discussions were held around questions on the topics: “What green challenges are there in education and what obligations do these challenges create?”, “What steps need to be taken for environmental education clean schoolchildren?”, “Which traditional approaches in education should be replaced” and “How should the idea of ​​a green school be integrated into existing curricula?”

The forum takes as a basis the direction “Education in accordance with the requirements of the 21st century” of the document “Azerbaijan 2030: National priorities for socio-economic development”.
