The Venice Biennale will pay tribute to Brian Eno

The British artist will receive the Golden Lion which will reward his entire musical career in Venice on October 22 as part of the Biennale Musica.

Brian Eno, the British musician and visual artist who has worked with Talking Heads, U2 and David Bowie, will receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 2023 Venice Biennale, the organizing committee announced on Wednesday. March 8 in Rome.

At 74, Brian Enon describes himself as a “non-musician”. He came to prominence in the early 1970s as a founding member of the Roxy Music group. The artist holds his notoriety from his contributions to ambient music and his work in the fields of rock, pop and electronics.

According to the press release from the Venice Biennale, the music department has decided to honor Brian Eno “for his research into the quality, beauty and diffusion of digital sound and for his conception of acoustic space as an instrument of composition”. The artist will receive his prize at a ceremony organized on October 22 as part of the Biennale Musica 2023 in Venice.
