Residents of the Bolyarovo village of Voden have been evacuated, including 29 people from the Home for the Elderly in the village, bTV reported. There are no reports of injured people.
Some of the people who are immobile have been taken out on trolleys.
Access to the village is prohibited, the gendarmerie guards the approaches to it. Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov is traveling to the place.
The fire spread over a large area, most of the houses in the village were burnt.
Another 30 servicemen and six vehicles from the 42nd mechanized battalion, part of the 2nd Tundzhan Mechanized Brigade – Stara Zagora, took part in extinguishing the fire near the village of Voden, Yambol region, the Ministry of Defense announced.
The Mi-17 helicopter, which earlier today was extinguishing the fire in the area of the village of Otets Paisievo, was diverted to help control the natural disaster in the Yambol region, the announcement states.
The fire is growing rapidly and military personnel from the Air Force – 21 people with six units of equipment, from the military formation 26 030 – Bezmer, are reinforcing the firefighting actions.
From 1:00 p.m., another 44 servicemen, with two specialized machines, from the 61st Stryam Mechanized Brigade, under the leadership of the commander of the 3rd Mechanized Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Pavel Todorov, assisted the unit sent this morning in the area of the fire near the village Father Paisievo, Kaloyanovo municipality, Plovdiv region.
The firefighting module from the 2nd Tundzhan Mechanized Brigade continues to operate in the area of the fire near Stara Zagora, the Ministry of Defense informs.
From 2:30 p.m., the mayor of the municipality of Bolyarovo, Hristo Hristov, announced a partial state of emergency on the territory of the municipality, which is in the Yambol district, in the lands of the villages of Kraynovo, Sharkovo, Malko Sharkovo, Sitovo and Voden, the press center of the municipality announced.
