Alexei Agranovsky, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Virology at the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University, said that the “stealth-Omicron” of the coronavirus is not dangerous for patients who have recovered from the “Omicron” strain of COVID-19.

In a conversation with the Telegram channel Radiotochka NSN on Thursday, February 24, the specialist explained that those who had been ill with Omicron would have strong immunity, which would not allow the virus to enter the body.

“I think there will be strong immunity against the Omicron group of variants. The original “Omicron” split into several variants. Having been ill with one, a person receives protection from others. As well as vaccines, so far they show good protection against all types of Omicron,” Agranovsky said.

He noted that in no country in the world the incidence of “stealth-Omicron” went up sharply. Specialists are monitoring the development of the situation, but so far there has been no sharp increase in the incidence, as was the case with the Omicron strain, which began to displace Delta.

The virologist also emphasized that new strains of coronavirus will appear if the number of cases in the world continues to grow.

Earlier in the day, Kamil Khafizov, head of the scientific group at Rospotrebnadzor, said the proportion of the stealth-Omicron coronavirus variant in Russia was slowly growing. According to him, at present, 7.4% of all detected cases of infection with the Omicron variety account for stele-Omicron, writes RT.

In Russia, “stealth-Omicron” was detected in early February, notes “Moscow 24”. Some of the first signs of illness with this strain are dizziness, fatigue, muscle and joint pain. It is noted that patients with the Omicron strain also feel numbness in their hands and feet, which they have not previously experienced, the site kp.ru notes.

A large-scale vaccination campaign continues in Russia. Citizens can get vaccinated for free. Six coronavirus drugs have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona, KoviVac, EpiVacCorona N, and the Sputnik M vaccine for adolescents.

All up-to-date information on the situation with coronavirus is available on the sites stopcoronavirus.rf and access to everyone.rf, as well as on the hashtag #WeTogether. Coronavirus hotline: 8 (800) 2000-112.
