“The Voice”: Florent Pagny and Amel Bent refuel, Vianney and Marc Lavoine in difficulty on the “cross battles”

They were 34 at the end of the battles. They will only be 21 to attend the “super cross battles” next Saturday. Because this second evening of “cross battles” of “The Voice”, this April 30 on TF1, turned into a butcher. The coaches having all used their joker last week, each confrontation had only one outcome: a winner, a loser. And therefore the workforce halved, with the loss of talents yet outstanding of the season.

Amel Bent paid the price, thinking that Chérine could overcome Mister Mat. Two radically different universes, she taking up “Break My Heart”, by Dua Lipa, he “Marie”, by Johnny Hallyday. “Two distinct universes, two artists, two generations too”, summed up Nikos Aliagas. “We have as much affection for our own talents as for those of other teams,” commented Amel Bent, touched by the performance of his rival. Vianney, he underlined “something absolutely crazy” for Chérine. But ultimately, the public preferred Mister Mat, with 68.2% of the vote.

Make way for “super cross battles”

The only female juror of the quartet, however, took her revenge at the end of the program, on the ultimate “cross battle”. A last musical fight opposing on one side Axel for Vianney, on the other Mary Milton for Amel. Two songs for two great voices: “Arcade”, by Duncan Laurence, for him, “The Greatest Love of All” by Whitney Houston, for her. And results this time much tighter, since Mary won with 52% of the vote. “I can’t be happy there…”, admitted Amel, disappointed to see Axel leave the competition.

At the end of these bloody and singing clashes, Florent Pagny is once again the coach who is doing the best. The history of the season managed to keep 7 talents out of the 9 that it submitted to public votes, thus eliminating only Amber and Morgane. Amel Bent sees her team go from 8 to 6 singers, after the eliminations of Luigiano and therefore Chérine. Vianney and Marc Lavoine experienced the most complex “cross battles”, with four artists each, a loss of four and five votes respectively. But the teams will still melt like snow in the sun next Saturday with the “super cross battles”, a sort of third round, but without any joker, to keep only ten semi-finalists for the first live.
