He didn’t expect that!

While the “The Voice of Germany” coaches tried again on Friday with tricks and compliments to lure the singing talents into their team, a very special surprise was waiting for them. Candidate Jaqueline (34) suddenly had a lot to say about Ronan Keating’s wife (46)!

Jaqueline had traveled from the tranquil North Rhine-Westphalia village of Wachtberg, where she lives with her husband and daughter. During her jazzy performance of “All Of Me” by Frank Sinatra, she not only sang but also played her instrument, the kazoo.

A performance that thrilled juror Shirin David (28) – she was the first to buzz. At the very end, Ronan Keating, who had been blown away by the performance, also turned around: “Incredible!” When Jaqueline introduced herself, she looked at Keating and said: “I am 34, live in Wachtberg. I’ll take a look in that direction. Maybe something rings a bell?” Keating, however, didn’t look as if anything had “rung a bell”. Shirin also couldn’t classify the question: “What’s that ringing?” Tom Kaulitz (34) chimed in: “Who’s it supposed to ring?”

Jaqueline clarified: “Ronan’s doorbell could possibly ring now. His wife Storm has German roots and her family comes from where I live.” Now Keating’s penny dropped: “Are you serious?! Yes, that’s right. My wife comes from the town. That’s insane! By the way, we’ll be coming over in the next few weeks.”

While the other coaches made fun of Ronan’s long management, he was already using the information to recruit talent: “Now I know which team she will go to. We have a family connection!” Jaqueline felt the same way – she chose Ronan as her coach, who then continued to chat with the candidate: “My wife will have so many questions. She is here and will want to know everything. What’s the name of the place again?”

Even back with his coaching colleagues, he couldn’t forget the topic and continued: “I have family in Germany. Did you know that?” The place in question seemed to have a special meaning for Keating’s wife Storm (41) for another reason, as Ronan excitedly chatted: “My wife told me there is a castle in the place. And it’s named after her family. So it’s her family’s castle!”

He jokingly added: “I actually own a castle. In Germany.” Shirin was already planning a hearty celebration in her mind’s eye: “Such a lousy house party in a castle like that. This is going to rock like hell!”

These candidates also moved on to the next round

▶︎ Kevin (26) from Bielefeld dared to create an ESC hit. Before his performance for “Rise Like A Phoenix” there was a video message from Eurovision icon Conchita Wurst (34), and after his performance he was accepted into Team Shirin.

▶︎ Valentina (35) from Cologne impressed Ronan Keating with “Runaway” by Aurora.

▶︎ Malou (24) from Cologne got the first four-way buzzer of the evening. The globetrotter sang “Rainbow Connection,” a song by Sesame Street legend “Kermit the Frog.” However, the Kaulitz twins had blocked Ronan, who could hardly believe his bad luck: “It breaks my heart!” The student chose Tom and Bill alias “Team Toll”.

▶︎ Giovanni Zarrella (45) was also able to win over a talent. He buzzed Julia (35) from Bielefeld after her performance of “Fells Like Home” and raved: “You hugged me with your voice.”

▶︎ Cäcicilia (31) from Norderstedt sang Tokio Hotel’s “Through the Monsoon” and convinced all jury members – the second four-piece buzzer of the evening. It was of course no surprise that she also chose the Kaulitz twins as coaches after this song.

▶︎ The third four-way buzzer of the evening went to Rouven (20) from Frankfurt/Main. After “I just want” by Philipp Poisel, Shirin had tears in her eyes: “Some time ago I made a very firm decision: I will never believe any man anything he tells me. But I believed everything you said. It was so magical.” She won Rouven’s heart – he too is now part of Team Shirin.
