The volume of cyber fraud in Russia in 2021 exceeded the maximum in the entire history of observations, said Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank Stanislav Kuznetsov at the SOC Forum.
“I can say that the amount of fraud in the country today has exceeded the maximum in the entire history of observations. Cybercrime, in general, the commission of cybercrimes, their number has increased, “- said Kuznetsov. According to him, for 11 months of this year, Sberbank has prevented fraud for more than 100 billion rubles. He called such figures “unprecedented.”
Earlier, RBC said that the Bank of Russia plans to establish a minimum amount that banks will have to return to victims of fraudsters in a simplified form. To return the money, the victim will have to inform the bank about the fact of fraud no later than the next day after receiving notification of the operation. The exact methodology for calculating the amount has not been disclosed.
The head of the information security department of the Central Bank, Vadim Uvarov, said earlier that the share of frauds using social engineering for the first nine months of this year decreased by 18 percentage points to 48%. According to him, the figure was reduced thanks to targeted and systematic work to inform Russians about such fraud schemes.
