Putin has hidden nothing of his ideas and his project: he is at war against European democracy, in which he sees only decadence, and against which he wants to assert, in defiance of all rights, the power of an empire. The imperialist dynamic set in motion since 1999 by Putin’s regime, supported by mafia and oligarchic capitalism, will only be stopped if Russia loses in Ukraine. As war rages again on our borders, as the security of the whole of Europe hangs in the balance, cowardice and culpable ambiguity are not permitted.

The question is simple: should we give the Ukrainians the means to defend themselves or reward the Russian aggressor by letting it destroy international law and commit its crimes against humanity with complete impunity? Those who call for an end to supplying arms to Ukraine are not “pacifists”: they do not want peace, but agree to defeat.

They authorize the sacrifice of Ukrainians by delivering them to their aggressors. They hope to have peace by yielding to those who start wars. It is an old illusion that has cost us many times throughout history. The victory of fascism is not “peace”, but the preparation for other wars.

This war decides the security of the European continent

The pseudo-“pacifism” on the part of the French and European political class – including on the left – which refuses arms deliveries to Ukraine is tantamount to consenting to the oppression and annihilation of a people whose only crime is to have wanted to live free. Not only are European countries right to supply arms to Ukraine, but they must step up their effort.
