“The Athletic” announced this evening that Danny Avdia, a player for the Washington Wizards, will continue for a fourth season in the NBA after his rookie option has been exercised and he will extend his contract. The Israeli forward can become a restricted free agent, an option that gives the team from the capital the opportunity to match any offer that comes for the player. Avdia’s salary will increase according to his seniority in the league, as he is expected to earn $6.2 million in his fourth season in Washington. In addition to Danny, Corey Kispert will also continue with the Wizards, with the guard in his third season with the team.
The report on the exercise of the option on Danny did not come as a complete surprise, when just yesterday the team’s coach, Wes Anseld Jr., was interviewed, and stated how impressed he was with the Israeli’s leadership performance in the Eurobasket tournament and in the last season in general.
The Israeli forward was selected ninth in the draft two years ago by the Washington Wizards. Since then, he has averaged 8.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game so far in his NBA career.
