The world has tools to break the censorship of Kremlin which, by blocking social networks, is leaving Russian citizens increasingly isolated. AND Squad303 It is one of the ones that a good handful of users are currently using to get in touch with Russian citizens. The objective? Share with them information about the invasion of Ukraine that is difficult to access in the country.

“We, the peoples of the world, have a message for the Russian nation. A nation that is going to pay a very high price for the shameful decision of the dictator Putin to attack an independent Ukraine with the armed forces. Joint action by all states of the free world, in response to Russia’s aggression, will lead to the collapse of the entire country,” the website states.

“However, almost 150 million Russians do not know the truth about the causes or the course of the war in Ukraine. It feeds on the lies of Kremlin propaganda. There is no free media in Russia and the Internet is censored. It is possible that each one of us transmits a direct message to the inhabitants of this enslaved country », he concludes.

Squad303, developed by Poles, according to ‘The Wall Street Journal’, hides around 20 million mobile phone numbers and about 140 million email addresses owned by Russian individuals and companies. Users who want it, can enter inside to randomly get these contacts and, from there, make calls, send messages via SMS, WhatsApp or email to citizens of the country governed by Putin.

As can be seen in the official Twitter account of the page; the people behind it are related to Anonymous, that heterogeneous group that claims to have been launching attacks against Russian institutions and media for weeks.

According to the ‘Journal’, since its launch on March 6, thousands of people have used Squad303 to send millions of messages. “Our goal was to break through Putin’s digital censorship wall and make sure Russians are not totally cut off from the world and from the reality of what Russia is doing in Ukraine,” one of the site’s administrators said.

It should be remembered that, since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, the Kremlin has censored information from a good handful of Western media. It has also blocked access in the country to some of the most important social networks in the world, such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Currently, Russians who want to continue using these platforms must turn to VPN networks. However, it is not ruled out that the Kremlin will take measures, sooner rather than later, to prevent this from continuing.
