Kiska, the world’s loneliest whale, has died at the age of 47.
Kiska, an orca whale captured near Iceland as a 3-year-old cub, was taken to different theme parks and eventually brought to Canada.
The Kiska whale, which has been kept in a glass tank for 43 years, is the first to lose its mate. Then the 5 cubs it gave birth to died within 5 years.
Kiska, who was confined in a small tank for more than 10 years, could not bear the loneliness and hit the glass tank with her head, which went viral on the internet.
Animal welfare activists have been fighting to release it into the sea, but Kiska’s death due to bacterial infection has left them sad.
