“At the moment, the condition of the autumn trees in Dobrichka region is predominantly good and very good. The moisture at this stage is not sufficient and there is a need for more rainfall”, announced the findings of the expert regional commission for conducting surveys of the areas with agricultural crops, the regional directorate “Agriculture”.

In the period 25 – 29 March, 10% of the areas with autumn trees were surveyed in order to establish their condition.

In addition to the representatives of the regional directorate “Agriculture”, representatives of the Dobrudja Agricultural Institute-General Toshevo, the regional directorates “Food Safety”, the state fund “Agriculture”, the Territorial Service for Approbation and Seed Control, etc. participated in the commission.

According to initial operational data, the autumn crops sown for the Dobrich region are 1,294,962 decares – 1,139,300 decares – wheat; 124,570 decares – barley; 31,092 decares – rapeseed.

According to the report, wheat and barley are in very good condition – 40%, good – 60%. Wheat and barley are in the “stem elongation, growth cone establishment” phenophase.

During the inspection of the wheat and barley crops, diseases of a phytopathogenic nature were detected, such as early leaf blight – the disease was detected in about 15% of the surveyed fields, and the attack in them was about 5%., brown leaf rust – the disease was detected in about 2% of the surveyed fields, and the attack in them is about 5%.

Among the enemies of the crops, the common vole is observed. From the surveys carried out, the enemy was found in about 1% of the fields located next to alfalfa. So far, no aphids have been detected. In general, the crops are free of weeds, weeding with ephemerals is observed – to a degree of no to medium.

On the territory of the district, due to the permanent drought until the beginning of November, rapeseed crops sprouted very late, they did not manage to develop a good root system and enter the necessary phenophase for wintering, and due to some low temperatures, most of them failed.

16 applications have been submitted to the regional directorate “Agriculture” for failed rapeseed areas. It is in the “rosette” phase of development. The fields are clear of weeds, no phytopathogenic diseases are observed.
