The White House commented on Lukashenka’s statements about nuclear weapons and Prigozhin’s visit to Belarus

In response to journalists’ questions about whether it is possible that the mutiny of the “Wagner” PMC in Russia was only a cover for the entry of “Wagner” troops into Belarus and whether, according to the Biden administration, Alexander Lukashenko’s statements about receiving “already a large part” are true Russian nuclear weapons,Alivia Dalton answered the following:

“I am not going to make any assumptions about this situation (the real goals of the rebellion of the “Wagner” PEC. — Ed.).”

As for Lukashenka’s statement about receiving “already a large part” of Russian nuclear weapons, she emphasized that she does not see “any changes”:

“All I will say is that the rhetoric around nuclear weapons, which we’ve seen coming from the Russians as well, is very irresponsible. And yet, we have seen no change, no reason to believe that their nuclear posture has changed, and no reason to change our own nuclear posture. That being said, we remain committed to the collective defense of the NATO Alliance, and we will remain in close contact with our partners and allies and monitor this closely and responsibly,” said Olivia Dalton.

On June 27, Alexander Lukashenko confirmed the arrival of Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the “Wagner” PMC, in Belarus. According to Lukashenka, hired PMC “Wagner” will work in Belarus as instructors and will have an abandoned military unit at their disposal. Also, on June 27, Lukshenko said that a “significant part” of Russian nuclear weapons is allegedly already in Belarus.
