World figure skating champion Anna Shcherbakova won the Grand Prix series in Grenoble, France. The 17-year-old Russian woman scored 229.69 points. The second place was taken by another representative of Russia Alena Kostornaya with 221.85 points (76.44 + 145.41), and the third – the Japanese woman Wakaba Higuchi with 204.91 points (63.87 + 141.04). The fourth was Ksenia Sinitsyna – 198.76 points (69.89 + 128.87).
It is interesting that the strongest figure skater of the competition could not perform the quadruple lutz in the free program. However, she then did a four-turn flip.
Shcherbakova herself said that she was shocked by her performance. She did not understand what happened to her during the performance of the quadruple lutz. “My first jump (lutz)! I didn’t understand what happened,” added the athlete.
As soon as she skated the rest of the program, she, too, “was not very aware of what was happening.” According to the Russian woman, she needs to reconsider her rental.
