The traditional winter cup “Winter Cup” ended in the football arena of Brest. It was not clear who would take the trophy with them until the last second of the tournament, because Dynamo lost their chances for the Cup even before the start of the final match.
The fact is that the first to enter the field on the last day of the tournament were “Naftan” from Novopolotsk and “Maxline” (Vitebsk), a team from the first league led by the notorious Yuri Puntus. Already in the 14th minute, the legendary coach’s players were left with ten men, but managed to score twice, conceding only in the last minute of the match. Having won 1:2, Maxline became unattainable for the tournament hosts, and Neman in the final game with Dynamo was only satisfied with a victory.
In the last game with the hosts, the Grodno team attacked more, shot on goal, took corners and controlled the ball. But until 73 minutes online, Maxline sensationally occupied first place in the table. And only at the indicated moment in time “Neman” still managed to score the only goal in the match and win 0:1.
After that, the silver medalist of the Belarusian championship caught up with Maxline on points, was ahead on goal difference, and for the third time in a row the winter cup went to Grodno. The team from Vitebsk unexpectedly becomes second, the Brest team with three points, one victory and two defeats are only third.
Over the last 2 games, after Dynamo’s attacks, the opponents’ goal net did not flinch even once – an unpleasant symptom. Apparently, they spent all their scoring energy in the match with Naftan, scoring 8 times. Let’s hope that Dynamo’s failure in the friendly tournament can be attributed to the lack of teamwork between the newcomers and the “oldies”, the fact that the players are “under stress”, as well as the search for optimal playing patterns by the new coaching staff. But before the start of the championship there is time to set up the game and start performing strongly from the first rounds.
