An Iranian woman who was jailed for claiming to have undergone multiple plastic surgeries to look like Hollywood star Angelina Jolie and sharing such photos on social media to show that the plastic surgery had completely disfigured her face has been released. In 2019, a young woman named Sabar Tabar was jailed in the case. Along with them, three other female social media (Instagram) influencers were also in jail.

Reports suggest that Sahar’s release comes as part of widespread protests in Iran following the death in custody of a young woman named Mahsa Amini. Mahsa Amini was taken into custody by the police for partially exposing her hair. After this they died.

Iran saw widespread protests over the incident. It turned out to be a historic breakthrough for women. The protests in Iran have also received a lot of international attention. As part of this, it is indicated that many people, including Sahar Tabar, have been released from prison.

Sahar also reportedly gave an interview to a TV channel after being released from jail. Accordingly, they have given a precise explanation of the incident in question. They claimed that Angelina Jolie underwent plastic surgery several times to get a job, but her face was deformed. Such photos were also shared through Instagram. Sahar became famous in this way in 2017.

But she explains that she did everything for fame and changed her face as shown in the photos with make-up.

Considering this as a big crime, the government sentenced them to ten years in prison. Sahar has served a total of fourteen months in jail. This young woman has said in the interview that she no longer wants to come to social media. Those who have read the reports share their opinion that what was done for fun has changed their lives so much.
Iran, which is often blamed internationally for human rights violations, is now facing a large-scale trial with the death of Mahsa Amini. The courage of women to protest in the streets is considered as a challenge against the government.
