Kottayam: The main accused in the case of handing over the partners is a member of several ‘couple swapping’ groups on social media, police said. The investigation has found that the complainant’s husband is a member of about 20 couples swapping groups based in Kottayam. Police sources said that all these groups and admins are currently under surveillance.
Such groups are based in Kottayam and operate under the names ‘Kottayam Swingers’ and ‘Mallu Kapil’. These groups are present in Telegram and WhatsApp. But after the police registered a case in Kottayam and arrested six people, many groups have been deleted. Members from most groups are also ‘left’ en masse. As a result, many details are likely to be lost. Currently, the group-focused investigation is progressing with the help of the Cyber Cell.
Meanwhile, the complainant’s brother also came to the scene with further revelations in the case of handing over the partners. The brother said that his sister was constantly threatened by her husband and even told him to kill the children.
The husband had told the complainant that he should engage in such activities for the happiness of the family and to earn money. He had threatened to kill himself and his family if he did not agree.
Six people have been arrested in connection with the case. A total of nine people were found to have molested the girl. The investigation is on for the remaining accused. It has been confirmed that one of them has gone abroad. Police are also trying to repatriate him. Meanwhile, the complainant underwent a medical examination last day. Their confession has also been recorded.
