“The words of the South Korean Defense Minister make our relations worse”

by time news

Kim Yoo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, said the South Korean defense minister’s remarks “further exacerbated relations between the two countries and the military tensions on the Korean Peninsula,” the North Korean news agency reported. Yu Jong is considered a major influence among the North Korean dictator’s entourage.

South Korean Defense Minister Su Wok said the South Korean military has the ability to attack its northern neighbor with a variety of missiles with significantly improved firing ranges, accuracy and power, with “the ability to accurately and quickly hit any target in North Korea.” He even called North Korea “his enemy.”

This comes against the backdrop of unusual launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles by North Korea, which is interpreted by Japan and South Korea as a significant threat.

Pak Jong Chun, secretary of the Central Committee of the Korean Workers’ Party, added that North Korea would “mercilessly direct all its military force to destroy key targets in Seoul and the South Korean military.”
