The evolution of the forest fire declared at dawn last Saturday in the municipality of Puntagorda, on the island of La Palma, continues to be favorable and the extinguishing device has been focused on consolidate the work done to avoid regrowth by cooling the affected areas.

The president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, has informed that the fire has responded today “relatively calm” even though they have registered winds of about 70 km/halthough it is taking place at height, not in low areas, which is good news for performance.

For this reason, they have been able to operate the five aerial means and actions have been taken at different points to cool those that have been seen with smoke, but without difficulties or revivals.

Rodríguez has also reported that as of 8:30 p.m. three drones fly over the affected area to obtain specific information on certain points. On Saturday, measurements will be made with portable meteorological stations to find out the surface wind.

The president of the Cabildo advanced that during the night there will be about 130 troops working in surveillance tasks and acting in the areas that require it. At 11:00 am on Saturday, there will be a new Infoca technical meeting where it is expected to make a decision that “may be decisive.”
