The World Heritage Committee meets to inscribe new sites on the World Heritage List

Paris, July 31 The 45th Expanded Session of the World Heritage Committee will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 15 to 25 September.

The Committee will be broadcast by webcast.

On September 11 (1:00 p.m. local Riyadh), UNESCO and the Saudi authorities will hold a press conference that will be broadcast online.

At its meeting, the Committee will review the state of conservation of 260 sites already inscribed on the World Heritage List, of which 55 are also on the List of World Heritage in Danger.

As of September 16, the World Heritage Committee will begin examining nominations for new sites on the World Heritage List, starting with nominations that could not be considered last year.

To date, the World Heritage Committee has inscribed 1,157 sites from 167 countries on the World Heritage List. Composed of representatives of 21 States Parties that have ratified the World Heritage Convention, the Committee is responsible for the implementation of the Convention.
