In the summer of 1942, the Pacific War was in full swing: the Japanese Empire invaded Manila at the beginning of the year, at the beginning of April they continued to conquer the Philippines and launched an offensive on the province of Bataan. The Allied forces surrender on April 9, 1942 after just one week. The victorious Japanese behaved barbarically, around 70,000 prisoners of war had to march a hundred kilometers under the scorching sun, with little food and water.
