Global growth slows as Italy catches up. this is one of the main aspects that emerges from the macroeconomic scenario of the Outlook on the 2022 economy, drawn up by the Studies and Research Department of Intesa Sanpaolo. According to the report, in fact, a decline in global growth is expected in the two-year period 2022-2023, with the reduction of room for maneuver for expansive fiscal policies and greater volatility of the financial markets. The uncertainties linked to the pandemic weigh on these aspects – even if Covid is expected to impact less on domestic demand than a year ago – but above all the supply bottlenecks and excess demand that are characterizing the last months of 2021. and which should continue into the new year. Factors which, together with the rapid economic recovery and the rise in energy prices, have contributed to the increase in the general inflation rate, albeit with some differences between the individual countries. It is precisely the rise in prices that is expected to decrease in 2022 compared to this year’s peaks, while underlying inflation (the price changes obtained by excluding the more volatile components from the consumer price index) could rise.
