To get hospitals of this type, it is necessary to start from basic aspects such as investment. None are created by spontaneous generation or through miracles. Money is very important because it allows for state-of-the-art buildings and facilities to care for patients who require it.
At the same time, in the same way that health professionals are required to, it is also necessary that they be offered the appropriate tools to carry out their tasks. From technological equipment to rest areas are items that cannot be missing.
Health is always an investment and never an expense
However, one of the current barriers is that not all countries give the same importance to health. Just to put it in perspective, in the Nordic countries the investment for this item is usually 10 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In contrast, in Mexico the figure is barely 2.6 percent.

For the work of this 2023, more than 2,300 hospitals from 28 different countries were analyzed, including one that was taken into account for the first time: Taiwan.
This work began in 2019 and since then it has become one of the main references to identify the state of hospitals around the world. To reach the final results, three parameters were taken into account.
Online survey with experts (doctors, hospital directors, health professionals). We asked participants to recommend hospitals. We limit the possibility of bias by excluding recommendations for employers/workplaces. Results of patient experience surveys. In order to determine the patient experience, we use data from existing public surveys. In general terms, insurers conduct these surveys at the end of the hospital stay. Among the topics analyzed are: satisfaction with the hospital, hospital recommendation and satisfaction with medical care. Key Medical Performance Indicators (KPIs) for hospitals (for example, data on quality of treatment and hygiene measures). We collect KPIs from various public sources. The information analyzed included data on the quality of care for specific treatments, patient hygiene and safety measures, as well as data on the number of patients per doctor and per nurse.
In the end, it was concluded that the hospital Mayo Clinic from Rochester repeats in the first position. Something that is striking is that the first four positions are for hospitals located in the United States.
While the others that complement the first eight positions are the Toronto General (Canada), Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset (Sweden), Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Germany) and AP-HP Pitié Salpêtrière University Hospital (France).
