The classic show review will be staged in August

Aldo Masullo

The XXIX edition of the VeliaTeatroFestival, a review of classical theater and philosophical theater, will be dedicated to Aldo Masullo, on the first anniversary of his death. The proposal – the organizers explain in a note – stems from the desire to honor the memory of a great contemporary thinker, to remember his high magisterium and his ethical, civil and political lesson, as well as his deep bond with Elea / Velia, homeland of the philosophical and medical school of Parmenides and Zeno, for whose enhancement, protection and promotion he has always fought hard, inspiring among other things, the approval of the regional law “Daniele” of 2005 for the “Constitution of a redevelopment area landscape-environmental around the ancient city of Velia “. Of the “philosopher of being” Parmenides, to whom a conversation-show will also be dedicated during the review scheduled for August 2021, Aldo Masullo said in his beautiful appeal to the young people of Greece: “He understood that, ultimately , the truth is never this or that decision, this or that project, this or that commitment, but thought (…), the only power that, if we do not give it up ourselves, no one can take away from us ”. In the past, the 2016, 2017 and 2018 editions were dedicated respectively to Mario Untersteiner, Marcello Gigante and Leo de Berardinis.

The webinar cycle

Meanwhile, the conversations on ancient theater continue successfully, the webinar cycle organized in collaboration with the Alario Foundation for Elea Velia and the Italian Philosophical Society: Wednesday 12 May, starting at 4.30 pm, it will be the turn of Emidio Spinelli, president of the Philosophical Society Italian, on the theme: Migrant women and Greek citizens: for a rereading of the Supplices.
