It is most often found in men, hidden in a forest of Xs: it is the Y sex chromosome. One of the smallest among the 46 which usually populate the nuclei of cells. Small but strong, tough to decipher. So much so that the scientists who have succeeded one another for 34 years to decode the entirety of human DNA have only just overcome the midget which still resisted sequencing machines.
