The Zonal Coordination 7 – HEALTH, which includes the provinces of Loja, El Oro and Zamora Chinchipe, generated 229 purchase orders for medicines by electronic catalog to supply the pharmacies of the 282 first-level operating units and 20 hospitals. The investment amount is USD 1,400,000 dollars for its acquisition.
More than 40 items of medicines arrived at the warehouses. It is the first of six deliveries scheduled for this first quarter of the year. Pharmaceutical biochemists from the different districts review expiration dates, batch number and health registration. After complying with all technical standards, they are distributed to health establishments.
Gabriela Angamarca, responsible for Medicines of the 7-HEALTH Zonal Coordination, said that these medicines include those for hospital use that will be used for the different surgeries planned in hospitals, also for chronic diseases, antibiotics, psychotropics and analgesics. “The units acquired belong to the National Basic Medication Chart (CNMB) to treat diseases of all prescribed therapeutic groups,” she added.
Decentralized Operating Entities (EOD) carry out acquisition processes for very small amounts and reverse auctions. For this 2023, the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) allocated 10 million dollars for the purchase of medicines and medical devices in zone 7.
Isabel Cueva Ortega, Zonal 7-HEALTH coordinator, confirmed that the drugs were purchased under the principle of transparency, legality, compliance with the public procurement law and optimization of resources.
