Alappuzha: Director Vinayan Rangath responded to actor Guinness Pakru’s remark that he cheated on Mallika Kapoor and acted in the movie Athbhuthadweep. Vinayan said that it was not the heroine who was actually trapped in Atbhuta Island but some banned organizations in the film.
Vinayan says in his Facebook post that Prithviraj was banned by some film organizations at that time and he decided to overcome the ban and cast Raju in his film. Vinayan added that he still has a troubled habit of swimming against the current.

What really stuck on Wonder Island was some of the film’s banning organizations. Mallika Kapoor says that she still remembers the movie with wonder. According to Guinness Book of World Records, Prithviraj did not tell Mallika Kapoor that he was the hero of the film. But Mallika was adamant not to divulge any information about the actors. Ever since I heard the story of Wonder Island, I would have jokingly told Pakru, “Wait, it’s a suspense.”
Many people thought that the heroine of Atbhuthadweep was probably one of the famous heroines of Malayalam cinema at that time. But when I spoke to the heroines who were in the limelight at that time to play the lead role of Kalabhavan Mani in the film Vasanthi, Lakshmi and Me, I had in my mind that Savinayam had left with a laugh. So, in the early stages of the film, Mallika, who was born into a Punjabi family, was seen as the heroine.
There was a special reason to suggest that Prithviraj should not be mentioned in the film. Prithviraj was banned by some film organizations at that time. I was determined to overcome that barrier and cast Raju in my film.

Jagathy Sreekumar, Jagadeesh, Indrans and Kalpana were given advance agreements after Pakru was advertised as the hero in the film which has more than 300 short people. Prithviraj was known to be another important actor in the film, who was the only one in the cast. Kalpana was of the strong opinion that such unjust prohibition and isolation should be defeated. Jagathichettan and Kalpana are seen at a shooting location. I still remember the look on Kalpana’s face when he said that Prithviraj could not act in the movie if he was there.
I doubt if Jagathy Chettan knew about Prithviraj even when Anna signed the agreement – because after signing the agreement, Prithviraj’s body was photographed with about ten little people sitting on it.
Thus, with the release of Atbhutadweep, the ban on Prithviraj was lifted. Raju is actively returning to cinema. But it was not only the friends of Malayalam cinema who felt good about the fantasy film, which even the foreign media mentioned was different.
