Therapy for divorced parents helps prevent attachment problems in children

by time news

Children of divorced parents have more difficulty with a healthy attachment. Danish research shows that (couple) therapy around a divorce is positive for the development of children. Unlike in Denmark, this is not reimbursed by the government in the Netherlands. That’s why Psyned helps parents and children for free with a first consultation via a telephone helpline and their podcast What are you waiting for?. Psyned reports that.

Children usually seem to have little trouble with a divorce. Nevertheless, unwanted attachment patterns often creep in that you cannot easily break away from later in life. For example, children of divorced parents are more likely to suffer from fear of attachment or separation later on. A big problem as 86,000 children are told that their parents are separating each year.

Free advice from a psychologist

Like all of the Netherlands, Psyned pays extra attention to this subject around ‘Divorce Day’ on Friday 9 September. They do that in their podcast What are you waiting for? with two special themed episodes and with a telephone helpline. Parents and children can schedule a free telephone conversation with a special advisory team from 9 to 16 September via this link. In this conversation, children and parents can ask questions about their specific situation and receive tailor-made advice and insight.
