The heavy rains that fell on the city of Ajdabiya caused some residential neighborhoods to be flooded with water, as water accumulated in the streets and residential neighborhoods.

The Municipality of Ajdabiya stated, “Efforts to pump out water accumulated in the affected neighborhoods are still continuing, with a particular focus on the 7th of October neighborhood, as teams seek to mitigate the damage resulting from water accumulation, especially in homes and streets.”

According to the municipality, “Additional teams of civil defense personnel and heavy machinery have been deployed to help remove water and improve the functioning of life in the affected neighborhoods.” The committee is also working to provide the necessary equipment to enhance the capacity of emergency teams in the most affected areas.

The mayor of Ajdabiya Municipality, Nasser Bogrebi, said in press statements: “The heavy rains that fell on the municipality were recorded for the first time in the city,” adding: “The city of Ajdabiya is full of residents and suffers from weak infrastructure, which led to the city being flooded and water entering some homes.”

He said: “The rescue and emergency teams, in cooperation with the Security Directorate, are now working to suck out water in conjunction with the arrival of water suction sweepers coming from the city of Benghazi. During the coming hours, we will suction water from the affected neighborhoods and areas.”

He added: “There are homes in which the water can no longer be controlled, but the emergency teams are working according to the available capabilities, as the water levels have become very high in Ajdabiya and we are working with the available capabilities, which are considered weak, but in the coming hours there will be great progress in suctioning the water from inside.” “Biology.”

He continued to the Lam Network: “The situation is currently under control, but we are still launching new calls to join efforts with the aim of saving what can be saved of citizens’ property inside their homes, and we call on citizens living inside the municipality to commit to staying in their homes to facilitate the movement of vehicles and enable them to carry out their work within the municipality. In turn, Ibrahim Sultan, a weather model analyst at the Roya Foundation for Astronomy and its Applications, stated, “The weather situation in the city of Ajdabiya raises concern as rain continues to fall at moderate and light levels since last night.”

In a statement to the Libyan newspaper Al-Anbaa, Sultan indicated that “the amount of rain recorded has reached 15 millimeters so far, with expectations that the rainfall will continue until the end of the day today, which increases the risk of worsening damage.”

In this context, the rescue teams, led by the National Safety Authority’s operations room, “evacuated about 40 families stranded in the Sidi Abdel Ati area, and the National Safety Authority in the eastern region was also directed to supervise the distribution of urgent relief.”
