Eight celebrity couples traveled to the Dominican Republic believing that they would live a dream vacation, but it was not. The presenter Luján Argüelles (Salas, Asturias, years old) is the master of ceremonies of ‘¡Vaya vacaciones!’, the summer reality show on Telecinco, which this Thursday night broadcasts a new installment starting at 10:00 p.m. .

What encouraged you to accept this summer project?

In recent years, one thing has been clear to me: my eight-year-old daughter is an absolute priority in my life. If a project lasts a long time, I’m not going to do it; but if I can reconcile it with my daughter, I will. And then there is the type of format and the register that it implies. This program has the grandeur of the Mediaset universe. This audiovisual group has the ability to attract the public and surprise them, which I thought was important at this point in my life. I was very happy with the format approach. The only drawback that I would see in a program is the fact of having to leave my house.

Many still remember him for being ‘Witch’ in ‘A Prince for Corina’. Is that profile repeated in this ‘reality’?

The presenter is just one more piece of a huge team and decisions made in consensus with many people. I am the spokesperson and the one who transmits the beautiful and not so beautiful things that they are going to have to experience, but I have not had a conflict with any of the contestants.

He also returns to Mediaset to present again ‘Who wants to marry my son?’. How has the return been gestated?

The return of ‘Who wants to marry my son?’ It is a decision of the Mediaset board of directors and I cannot answer much about why he returns now. Now, I would tell you that if I were the general director or part of the leadership of any communication group, I would decide to do a program like that, because it is a great format. When they raised the idea of returning to the program, well, you can’t help but feel happy because I think it’s a format that has a lot to offer, to advance and to surprise. It pleases me to see that people want me back.

He looks happy with his return to Mediaset…

The Mediaset universe is something that expands. I am a very emotional person; and emotionally for me this company is many things. Everything that Cuatro has been in my life has been a great gift, an opportunity to meet wonderful people, learn all the time and enjoy worlds of communication that I was unaware of because I came from the radio. It’s like that boyfriend from adolescence that I liked a lot.

Lujan Arguelles.

After his frustrated return to ‘Password’, it seems that fate had in store for him to return to Mediaset.

There is a phrase that I love and it gives me a lot of relief and peace of mind: life is always right. What is satisfying is that they want to return two brands like ‘Password’ and ‘Who wants to marry my son?’ and that I have had the great luck of being able to enjoy them and, at a certain moment, those mothers and those children will finally be back in my life.

How do you see the return of classic programs to TV, such as ‘Grand Prix’ or ‘Password’?

One has to bet on what seems to him at a certain moment that follows the criteria that his company wants to carry out. I also believe that there are many things in the history of television that have a long history. There are many things in the future, many more in the present, many things to be developed that will surprise us and that will mark a before and after in the next history of television. In everything there are things that at a certain moment we can bet on. So, deciding that this title or that one returns is like when we go on vacation and return to destinations we have been to. That is because they have been destinations that have marked our lives and we believe that they can bring us new things.

With so much ‘reality’ behind you, would you like to participate in one? What format would it be?

Right now there is one that I need: ‘A prince for Luján’. I need a candidate to be found for me, but I’m not that easy either. The human being has many faces and there are faces that I better keep to myself and I am taking them out of the future candidate little by little.

Are you still working on projects with your production company?

We are in negotiations. It’s a part I don’t want to lose. In recent years I have learned that you choose the path and, once you choose it, you have to build it. And it doesn’t happen with what you don’t work hard enough. There are many ideas, many things… and life is always open to enjoy.
