2023 was a successful year for me, I have a lot of plans for 2024 – I will strive to win the Cup in Baku, then we will have the European Championship in Portugal, where I want to win gold both in the individual and team competitions, and in the summer there will be another stage World Cup.
As Day.Az reports, Mikhail Malkin, a member of the Azerbaijani national acrobatic jumping team (tumbling), told Trend about this on Thursday.
“The Cup in Baku is my first start this year. I had a short break due to injury, I only started training for three weeks, I’m recovering. At the World Cup I will perform the combinations that I plan to present at the European Championship. Teammates “They’re keeping up, the guys are in good shape. Only two gymnasts from the country qualify for the World Cup finals, and there are four of us. Therefore, in the qualifications there will be a fight among ourselves to reach the finals,” Malkin said.
The athlete, who was awarded the title of “Gymnast of the Year” by European Gymnastics, noted that this was extremely honorable for him.
“The year 2025 will be important for me, the World Games will be held, and then the World Championship. The World Games are like the Olympic Games for us, so I want to win a gold medal, and besides, I don’t have a medal from this competition yet,” he added.
It should be noted that the FIG World Cup in Trampoline and Tumbling will be held at the National Gymnastics Arena on February 23-25. Representatives from 32 countries will take part in the competition.
Azerbaijan will be represented by Seljan Mahsudova in the women’s trampolining competition, and Huseyn Abbasov, Nijat Mirzayev and Mehdi Aliyev will perform in the men’s competition.
The country will be represented in the acrobatic jumping competition by Mikhail Malkin, Adil Hajizadeh, Tofig Aliyev, and Bilal Gurbanov.
