Under the patronage of the head of state, a European sports forum for people with visual impairments is being held in Sofia

With these words, President Rumen Radev addressed the participants in the 11th European Showdown Championship. The head of state attended the official opening in Sofia of the significant sports forum for people with visual impairments, which Bulgaria is hosting for the first time this year. The event is held under the patronage of the head of state. This was announced by the press office of the presidency.
Many people from all over Europe are gathering in Bulgaria today, united by a common mission – to make our common European home more accessible to every citizen, President Radev said to the participants in the championship, which this year includes competitors from 16 countries. According to him, a showdown, created especially for people with visual impairments, develops the competitors’ confidence, independence, satisfaction with life and promotes their social integration. President Radev wished the participants in the sports forum to continue to perceive the world with the power of thought. “If you manage to teach the sighted to this art, the world will be more meaningful and better,” added the head of state.
In his speech, Rumen Radev expressed his gratitude to the organizers of the European Championship – the Federation “Sports for People with Visual Impairments” and the International Sports Federation of the Blind (IBSA), as well as to all the coaches, managers and hosts for their dedication and commitment. you inspire hope that we live in civilized societies, because an indicator of this is the attitude towards children, the elderly and especially towards people with disabilities,” the head of state emphasized.
