Two licensing applications, as expected, were submitted by those interested in the floating taxis in the waters of Lake Pamvotida, which will carry out transportation services, following the relevant decision of the regional council.

The deadline for the submission of applications has passed and the files will now be checked by the advisory committee that was set up, in order to establish whether all the conditions that were set during the announcement have been met.
According to the regulatory framework approved by the district council, the floating taxis will have a capacity of 10 to 15 people, will run separate routes from the regular floating taxis, and will operate 24 hours a day.
At the same time, it seems that Perama will be the “market” for the floating taxis, according to the competent deputy governor, Vassilis Gorgolis. “The messages from people are very positive about this activity. Especially with the thought of placing them in Perama, it will also give this area a piece of development given that seaplanes are also expected and floating taxis will be able to be a way of transporting visitors. The positions of the taxis will be completely distinct from those of the transportation ships”, noted Mr. Gorgolis, while, when asked about it, he added that the two more ships that joined the regular routes did not create any problems.
“We are happy so far with the process of the new permits. The new licensees have been integrated into the routes and this makes us happy. Clearly there was a delay, but some issues need scrutiny, autopsies, special people. But everything we do is for the benefit of the lake environment and the competition”, he noted.

Countdown to replacement

Gradually, in the coming years, the fleet of ships that carry out the transport ships in Pamvotida will begin to be replaced, with some of them being several decades old.
Essentially, based on the decision of the regional council on the age limits of the boats, in three years the oldest ones should be retired, based on the categorization by age limit.
Of course, some amendments are expected in the near future, as mentioned by Mr. Gorgolis, who will bring the matter to a meeting of the regional council, however it seems that there is already interest and the first procedures are being carried out, in order for the people of Limbouchi to take advantage of any financial programs in the direction she.
