BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan has commented that there is a crisis of lack of democracy in the country. He made this comment after the meeting of the BNP leaders with the 12 party alliance at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan in the capital on Sunday (July 14) evening.

Nazrul Islam Khan said, today the Prime Minister’s statement is clear, there is a crisis in the country. The current crisis is the crisis of lack of democracy. The country is covered with lawlessness. It is clear that corruption is taking place under the patronage of the government. The senior officials of the government have made the country a blight by corruption. Banks have been bankrupted. We are running a one-phase program to solve these existing crisis problems. The country’s crisis will not be solved without the implementation of a one-step movement.

He said that those who are destroying the country through corruption and looting, the government is taking them out of the country safely. And there is no allegation of corruption against Begum Khaleda Zia. He has been forced to spend years in prison with false cases. He is not even getting the treatment he needs. Khaleda Zia’s fundamental rights are being denied treatment at the behest of the court.

Regarding the quota reform movement, this senior leader of BNP said that the quota is not cancelled, but the students’ movement is going on to demand the reform. The agitation for quota reform has been going on for several years, it is not right to continue the agitation. Govt should make arrangements for quota reforms. When the Prime Minister or Ministers take oath, they say not to take any decision out of anger or resentment. But we saw that the Prime Minister was angry and said that the quota will not be cancelled. BNP supports the reasonable demands of the students.

12 Party Alliance Liaison Committee meeting was attended by Jatiya Party Chairman Mustafa Jamal Haider, LDP Secretary General Shahadat Hossain Salim, Bangladesh National Party Chairman Syed Ehsanul Huda, Jamiat Ulama Secretary General Mufti Ghulam Muhiuddin Ikram, Jagpa Vice President Rashed Pradhan, Bangladesh Labor Party Chairman Lion. Farooq Rahman, Chairman of Bangladesh Kalyan Party Shamsuddin Parvez, Secretary General of Islami Oikyajot Maulana Abdul Karim, Secretary General of Bangladesh Islamic Party Adv. Abul Kashem.

On the other hand, Begum Selima Rahman, member of the standing committee of the party, Vice-Chairman Mohammad Shahjahan were present on behalf of BNP.
