The coronation ceremony of King Charles III will take place on May 6, 2023 – this is what the British Royal House announced this evening (Tuesday). The ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey in London, where alongside the King, Charles’s wife, Camilla, will be officially crowned Queen Consort.

According to the Buckingham Palace announcement, the coronation ceremony of King Charles is expected to be more limited than the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Among other things, it was decided that the ceremony would last one hour and not 3 hours as it was at the previous coronation, and Charles’s guest list would be limited to only 2,000 people – compared to 8,000 people who were invited to his mother’s coronation.

The death certificate states: Queen Elizabeth died of old age

Although Charles already assumed the position of king about a month ago, immediately after the death of Queen Elizabeth, the custom of the British royal house is to hold the official coronation ceremony of a new king several months after taking office. This is in order to give the public time to mourn the death of the previous king and not go straight from mourning to joy in a short time.
