Because of the near-birth pains of the “Glavchev” cabinet to settle on one stable candidate for foreign minister for more than 3 days, “24 hours” compiled this short list of possible candidates who are professional and equally distant from the party structures. These are diplomats who have demonstrated professional qualities in the last 15-20 years.

One of the most indisputable figures in Bulgarian diplomacy is Dimitar Tsanchev, now ambassador of the European Union to Israel. He is a career diplomat with an enviable track record and reputation.

Another staff member of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry, who is currently working in the UN mission in Jerusalem and could worthy head of our diplomacy is Miroslav Zafirov.

Ognyan Zlatev, who headed the Representation of the European Commission in Sofia and the European Mission in Zagreb, would also be a suitable candidate. He is currently advising and coordinating relations with partners of the Directorate-General “Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion” of the EC on the current initiative “European Year of Skills”.
