Swigato is a new film starring Kapil Sharma and Shahana Goswami. Directed by Nandita Das, the film is gearing up for release. Nandita Das answers a question on whether her male colleagues face any challenges faced by women directors or women behind the camera.

Nandita said that there is no big difference between the film industry and other fields and every work place is reflected like in the film.

Nandita said there are few women directors and there is still a perception of money to be spent on their films. Nandita said these things in an interview to Indian Express.

“Film industry is no different from other sectors of society. Discrimination, prejudices and biases in life are also reflected in different workplaces.

The number of female directors is still very low. Generally, there is an understanding of what kind of stories women should tell and how much money they should spend on their stories.

Money, strategy and stories are controlled by men. There are more women behind the camera. “If there is a change in the way we look at women in front of the camera, it will bring more changes,” said Nandita Das.
