In the next 3 to 5 years, the business will need more than 32 thousand specialists
The business in Plovdiv will need over 32 thousand personnel in the next 3 to 5 years.
Salespeople, specialists in marketing and advertising, teachers and seamstresses will be most in demand. This is according to the latest survey of the Employment Agency on the needs of businesses for labor force.
The largest number of vacancies will be for people in the “Trade” sector – 3,672. The vacancies requested by businesses for “Marketing and Advertising” are 2,033.
The top 3 is completed by the teachers
– 1629 people. The business will also need seamstresses, accountants and builders. 840 will be the necessary dentists and other dental specialists. There is also a hunger for rehabilitators, with 480 places applied for.
Traditionally, all kinds of personnel will be sought for production, as well as for the “Restaurant” and “Hospitality” sectors. However, young people’s interest in this field continues to decline. The reason is that these positions are not attractive to them, so businesses increasingly want to import personnel from abroad.
Only 268 will be needed for “Informatics and
computer science”
Already at the end of 2023, the labor market began to notice that the demand for personnel in the IT field is decreasing. Then the explanations were that after the pandemic and forced work from home, which led to a sharp jump in the demand for IT, it is normal to see a lull and even a decline.
Meanwhile, layoffs began after years of companies in the industry recruiting even inexperienced people, training them and keeping them. There is also a global reason – artificial intelligence has begun to do much of their work.
Not a single place has been claimed by employers for the “Law” major in the following years. Philologists, historians, philosophers, theologians, sociologists, psychologists and experts in political science will not be sought either. Almost 3,000 vacancies will be for people without special qualifications.
Compared to 2023, the employers in the Plovdiv region
will be looking for nearly 6,000 fewer workers this year
and fall to IV place in terms of demand share. Before them are Burgas, Sofia and Varna.
The most sought-after professions in Plovdiv at the moment are machine operators, cooks, tailors, public transport drivers, builders, foundries, accountants, welders, fitters.
The survey shows that according to 87.4% of the bosses in Plovdiv, the most important skill that their employees should have is to have self-control and discipline. For 86.6%, their subordinates should work well in a team. Only 7.9% indicated that digital competence was necessary.
They are looking for serious, loyal and committed employees. They tend to hire people with lower qualifications if they are willing to learn and adapt.
