There is an urgent need for 20 vans for temporary accommodation for people whose houses burned down. This was said by the mayor of the municipality, Hristo Hristov, who participated in a joint briefing with President Rumen Radev. The head of state is on site to familiarize himself with the situation and meet the people whose properties were damaged by the fire disaster in the border municipality.
“Right now there is a very urgent need for people to be accommodated and settled, said the mayor. Today we spoke with Mr. President, we received his support, for which I thank him at this difficult time.”
Secondly, Hristov noted the need for financial compensation. “The municipality will make an estimate on Monday and distribute the funds according to the degree of danger and the extent of the damage.” Among the most affected villages, where there are completely burnt houses, are Voden, Kraynovo, Gorska Polyana.
He added that there is also a need for equipment to build clearings to protect populated areas. “We will ask either the army or the Forestry Agency to provide additional large chain machinery that will go around all populated areas,” said Hristov, quoted by BTA.
The mayor of Bolyarovo emphasized that good communication is necessary in disaster management. “In my opinion, it was very important to have a good synchronization in the actions of all institutions and to know that only one institution manages the organization. The communication between the institutions for timely control of the situation had a lot of gaps and weaknesses in this direction,” he commented.
According to Hristov, the difficult situation should not be politicized, and the fire should not be used for political purposes. “Such initiatives have started in the village of Voden with the delivery of certain vans to certain persons, said the mayor. Let’s solve the general problem with 20 vans for temporary accommodation and that all people be accommodated. Once again I appeal to everyone to stop politicking”, urged Hristov.
